Barrels Certification

This module is run as part of the Pilates Moves Studio Certification program and all applicants must abide by the full terms and conditions even if only participating in the Barrels Certification module.

 

Time:                                                 Spine Corrector & Baby Arc           1.00-4.00pm (Week 1-2)

                                                            High Barrel                                        1.00-4.00pm (Week 3-4)                   

                                                            Self mastery, assisted teaching & observation hours need to be booked prior to the course starting.

                                                            Presentation Exam by appointment only (Week 5)

  • Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel workbook
  • Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel lecture series (12 hours)
  • 1 Matwork Class, 1 Allegro or Circuit Class & 1 Semi-Private per week (12 hours)
  • 6 hours assisted teaching and observation per week (24 hours)
  • Total hours: 48

 

 

Presentation exam:           $110 per hour (week 5)

 

Program Outline: Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel

 

 

This program has a minimum requirement of Pilates Moves Level I Matwork & Reformer Certification, or equivalent.

 

The program is designed to introduce an instructor to the Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel repertoire and to develop basic techniques in class format and program design for low risk, apparently healthy clients.

 

 

 

Learning Objective

 

·         Be able to perform the basic & intermediate Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel exercises.

·         Understand how to apply the Pilates principles and their application to each exercise.

·         Demonstrate adequate understanding of Occupational Health and Safety issues.

·         Continue development of identifying clients learning styles.

·         Demonstrate suitable communication and client education skills.

·         Learn to design an hour exercise programs for private and semi – private classes utilising the Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel repertoire.

 

 

 

Teaching Method

 

 

 

·         Theory & Application (total 11 hours).

·         Written examination (total 1 hour).

·         Ongoing practical assessment during lecture series

 

 

 

Assessment

 

PART ONE:

 

·         Written examination: Short answer & practical exam in lesson plan IV in which the candidate will show a satisfactory understanding of the Spine Corrector, Baby Arc & High Barrel & their repertoire.

 

 

PART TWO:

·         Minimum of 36 hours of observation & assisted teaching

·         Ongoing practical assessment during lecture series.

·         Assignment – program design

·         Presentation exam of each exercise from the lecture series.

·         Barrels Certification
