Matwork Level III-IV Certification

This module is run as part of the Pilates Moves Studio Certification program and all applicants must abide by the full terms and conditions even if only participating in the Matwork Certification modules

Time: 1.30-5.30pm (Week 1)

1.30-5.00pm (Week 2-5)

Self mastery, assisted teaching & observation hours need to be booked prior to the course starting (9 hours per week).

Presentation Exam by appointment only (Week 6)

Cost (per person): $700 (5 weeks)

This includes:

• Matwork III-IV workbook
• Matwork III-IV lecture series (18 hours)
• 1 Matwork Class, 1 Allegro or Circuit Class & 1 Semi-Private per week (15 hours)
• 6 hours assisted teaching and observation per week (30 hours)

Program Outline

This program is appropriate for Certified Level II Matwork Instructors.

The program is designed to increase a level II instructor’s repertoire, to introduce the Advanced exercises suitable for low risk group exercise or one on one classes and to study the original Pilates Matwork repertoire and philosophy as set out in Joseph H. Pilates publication, “Return to life through Contrology”.

Learning Objective

· Be able to perform Level III Matwork exercises and modifications.

· Understand the Pilates Principals and their application to each exercise.

· Experience the Level IV (Super Advanced) Matwork repertoire.

· Demonstrate adequate understanding of Occupational Health and Safety issues.

· Demonstrate adequate understanding of professional conduct and the Pilates industry ethics.

· Continue development of identifying clients learning styles.

· Demonstrate suitable communication and client education skills.

· Learn program design for a 50-minute free style level III Matwork class.

· Present a 50-minute Matwork class of a set examination, demonstrating suitable communication and client education skills.

Teaching Method

· Theory & Application of Matwork class (total 17 hours).

· Written Exam (total 1 hour).

Assessment

PART ONE:

· Ongoing practical assessment during all lesson plans, in which the candidate will satisfactorily instruct and correct fellow candidates.

· Complete 3 assignments

· Written examination: Short answer & practical exam in lesson plan VI in which the candidate will show a satisfactory understanding of the Matwork & its repertoire.

· Assignment – Program design

· Written exam

PART TWO:

· Instructors interested in Level III-IV Certification

· Minimum of 45 hours of observation assisted teaching & self mastery

· Additional private tuition (optional)

· A 50-minute practical exam, teaching a small group of participants a set examination. Fee $110.00.
