Reformer Level III-IV Certification

This module is run as part of the Pilates Moves Studio Certification program and all applicants must abide by the full terms and conditions even if only participating in the Reformer Certification modules

Time: 1.30-5.30pm (Week 1)

1.30-5.00pm (Weeks 2-5)

Self mastery, assisted teaching & observation hours need to be booked prior to the course starting.

Presentation Exam by appointment only (Week 6)

Cost (per person): $700 (5 weeks)

This includes:

• Reformer III-IV workbook
• Reformer III-IV lecture series (18 hours)
• 1 Matwork Class, 1 Allegro or Circuit Class & 1 Semi-Private per week (15 hours)
• 6 hours assisted teaching and observation per week (30 hours)
• Total hours: 63

Presentation exam: $110 (week 6)

Program Outline

This program is appropriate for Certified Level II Reformer Instructors.

The program is designed to increase a level II instructor’s repertoire and to introduce the level III-IV exercises suitable for low risk, apparently healthy participants in group exercise or semi-private /private classes.

Learning Objective

• Be able to perform Level III Reformer exercises and modifications.
• Understand the Pilates Principals and their application to each exercise.
• Experience the Level IV (Advanced) Reformer repertoire.
• Demonstrate adequate understanding of Occupational Health and Safety issues.
• Continue development of identifying clients learning styles.
• Demonstrate suitable communication and client education skills.
• Learn program design for a 50-minute free style level III Reformer class.
• Present a set 50 minute Reformer class based on the Traditional Series’

Teaching Method

· Theory & Application of Reformer class (total 17 hours).

· Written Exam (total 1 hour).

Assessment

PART ONE:

· Ongoing practical assessment during all lesson plans, in which the candidate will satisfactorily instruct and correct fellow candidates.

· Written examination: Short answer & practical exam in lesson plan V in which the candidate will show a satisfactory understanding of the Reformer & its repertoire, OH&S and professional ethics.

· Assignment – Program design

PART TWO:

· Instructors interested in Level III-IV Certification

· Minimum of 45 hours of assisted teaching & self mastery

· Additional private tuition (optional) – refer to individual studios for fees

· A 50-minute practical exam, teaching a small group of participants a pre-set class.
