This module is run as part of the Pilates Moves Studio Certification program and all applicants must abide by the full terms and conditions even if only participating in the Small Apparatus Certification module.

 

The program is designed to increase a Matwork level II instructor’s repertoire and to introduce the Small Apparatus (Magic Circle, Roller, Thera–band, Thera–tubing, Chi–ball, the Fit–ball, Dura Disc & the Freeform Board) exercises in combination with program design for low risk, apparently healthy participants.

 

Time:                                                  1.30-5.30pm (Weeks 1-3)

                                                            Self mastery, assisted teaching & observation hours need to be pre-arranged prior to the course starting.

                                                            Presentation examination by appointment only (Week 4)

·         Understand the Pilates principles and their application to each exercise.

·         Continue development of identifying clients learning styles.

·         Demonstrate suitable communication and client education skills.

·         Learn to design a 50-minute exercise program for a Small Apparatus group exercise class.

·         Theory & Application of Small Apparatus class (total 12 hours).

·         Ongoing practical assessment during program developments.

PART ONE:

 

·         A practical assessment during lesson plans in which the candidate will satisfactorily instruct chosen or self designed exercises.

·         Written examination: Short answer & practical exam in lesson plan III in which the candidate will show a satisfactory understanding of the Small Apparatus & its repertoire.

 

PART TWO:

Instructors interested in Small Apparatus Certification

 

·         Minimum of 27 hours of observation, assisted teaching & self mastery

·         Additional private tuition (optional)

·         Assignment – program design

·         A 50 minute practical exam, teaching a small group of participants a free style class. Fee $110.00

·         Have a prepared pre & post class conversation to hand into your examiner. This document should be presented on A4 paper, Arial font, Heading 18pt, and Body Text 9pt
